Steve Bannon to attend rally and appear on ‘Hannity’ in support of Roy Moore on eve of Alabama runoff

Steve Bannon is going all in for Roy Moore in the upcoming GOP runoff for Alabama’s U.S. Senate contest, opposing President Trump’s favored candidate, incumbent Sen. Luther Strange.

Not only is Bannon going to appear at a rally with Moore Monday night – with Phil Robertson of “Duck Dynasty” fame, according to Axios – but he will also have his second-ever television interview that night on Sean Hannity’s Fox News program at 9 p.m. Eastern time.

Bannon, who rejoined Breitbart News after departing the White House last month as chief strategist, is helping boost the campaign of Moore, a former judge, as Trump is actively campaigning for Strange.

One source close to Bannon told Axios that Bannon isn’t so much planning on opposing Trump as he is resisting “the Washington establishment and Mitch McConnell,” who also support Strange.

“Steve is coming to Alabama to support President Trump against the Washington establishment and Mitch McConnell. Steve views Judge Moore as a fierce advocate of Trump and the values he campaigned on,” the source said.

Trump rallied with Strange on Friday in Alabama, and while Moore leads in the latest polls, his case for Strange included that he would “easily” win the general election, while Moore “has a very good chance about not winning.”

However, regardless of how next Tuesday’s runoff goes, Trump vowed to return to Alabama and campaign for the winner. He said both GOP candidates are “good men.”
