A Fox News poll released Wednesday evening found nearly one-third of Democrats have never heard of Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer, who is a lifetime politician and has been in Congress for more than 35 years.
The March 12-14 survey concluded 31 percent of registered Democratic voters do not know who the New York lawmaker is, while 30 percent of all voters do not know him. Nearly four-in-10 Democrats have a favorable opinion of Schumer compared to the one-quarter of all voters who do.
Voter approval of congressional Democrats stands at 32 percent currently. Its lowest point was 29 percent in November 2013. Three-in-five people disapprove of Democrats’ job in Congress, down from 64 percent in Dec. 2014. Those numbers are slightly better than Republicans’, who received 29 percent approval and 63 percent disapproval.
The survey was conducted March 12-14. Anderson Robbins Research and Shaw & Company Research polled 1,008 registered voters nationwide. The survey had a 3-point margin of error with questions of all voters, while questions of Democratic voters had a 4.5 percentage point margin.
