Prince George’s County fire officials have identified the man who was killed last week after he accidentally lit his clothes on fire while cooking.

The man was identified as 51-year-old Jerry Holloway, and he died from burn injuries, spokesman Mark Brady said.

At about 11 a.m. Wednesday, firefighters responded to an apartment complex at 5802 Annapolis Road for a call of smoke and found Holloway on the floor in his sixth-floor residence. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

He was the first fire fatality in Prince George’s County in 2012.
