Former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani said he would be open to serving in President-elect Donald Trump’s administration, though he is happy with what he’s doing now.
Giuliani is a partner in a law firm and runs his own security consultancy, and he told Fox News Thursday that he’s happy doing what he’s doing. But his name has been floated as a possible candidate for Attorney General, and he indicated he’d have to consider if it asked.
“When you talk to the president of the United States and he wants you to do a job, I don’t go into that with a firm no in my mind,” Giuliani said. “Maybe I could do it.”
Giuliani also endorsed two friends for roles in the Trump administration: New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie and former New York City police Chief Ray Kelly.
Giuliani said Christie would make a great attorney general as well, despite the allegations that he was more involved in the “Bridgegate” scandal than he’s admitted on the record.
“He would never do anything as stupid as that,” Giuliani said.
He added that Kelly, who was infamous for implementing the stop-and-frisk policing tactics ruled unconstitutional by a federal court, would be a great director of the Federal Bureau of Investigation if that post became available.
“Ray Kelly kept this city together and improved on the things I did to reduce crime,” he said.
