Within the last week, Senators Casey (PA), Leahy (VT) and Klobuchar (MN)–all Democratic super delegates–either endorsed Barack Obama or urged Senator Clinton to drop out of the race. You can almost hear the sounds of the party thumbscrews tightening. And today’s Rasmussen poll showing the Pennsylvania race closing to within five points only squeezes team Clinton harder. It’s the trend in the Pennsylvania polling that is most troublesome for the Clinton camp. According to Rasmussen: “For Clinton, that five-point edge is down from a ten-point lead a week ago, a thirteen-point lead in mid-March and a fifteen-point advantage in early March.” She needs a game changer–one of those Ryan Zimmerman, bottom of the ninth walk-off homers. Winning North Carolina might do the trick. But the latest numbers from the Tar Heal state look more like a strike out. North Carolina numbers show a significant trend toward the Illinois Senator, with his lead swelling from around eight points in early March to a 15-18-point lead in the most recent polls, according to Real Clear Politics. Clinton was on MSNBC today comparing herself to “Rocky Balboa.” She’s still saying the fight goes on to the convention. We’ll see. Barack Obama looks like he’s already scored the knock out and is just waiting for Hillary’s trainer to throw in the towel.
