Real life Spider-Man: Man scales down 19-story building to escape fire

A man scaled down the side of 19-story building to escape a fire that left seven injured in Philadelphia Thursday night.

The fire occurred at the Holden Tower on the 4400 block of Holden Street, according to 6 ABC Action News. Four residents and three police officers were injured in the fire. All of the injuries stem from smoke inhalation and heat exhaustion.

6 ABC’s helicopter captured one individual scaling down the side of the building to avoid the fire. He climbed down at least nine floors before landing on scaffolding that surrounded that side of the building.

“We did make some forcible entry on some units. We received calls from our fire communication center and fire department units. We went to those apartments to check on those residents,” Philadelphia Fire Assistant Chief Harry Bannan said.

The fire occurred in lower third of the building’s trash shoot, but firefighters said there was smoke on each of the floors.
