President Trump’s personal lawyer Rudy Giuliani said that he believes there is an internal effort in the State Department to have Trump removed from office.
In a Thursday interview with Sinclair’s Eric Bolling, the 75-year-old former New York City mayor was asked if he believes in the existence of a “deep state” conspiracy.
“Is there a deep state? Is there a concerted effort within the organization, within the [State] Department and or the FBI to take down President Trump?” Bolling asked.
“Oh yes,” Giuliani responded. “State Department is filled with them.”
“It isn’t that they disagree with his policies, and even that they try to undermine his policies a bit. That’s been going on for years,” he continued. “They want to get him out of office. Any way they can. How you can miss that this is a coup attempt is beyond being intelligent.”
Giuliani went on to say that he believes Democrats are leading “the coup.” He said that the FBI and law enforcement has “become intimidated by the press.”
“Unless I’m a courageous prosecutor, I know that if I investigate Rudy Giuliani, the New York Times are going to love it,” he said. “But if I would open an investigation into Joe Biden for a bribe that he admitted on tape … If I were to prosecute Biden, I’d get attacked as, ‘You’re doing it to help Trump,’ ‘You’re interfering in the election.’”
House Democrats introduced articles of impeachment against President Trump last week relating to his July 25 phone call with President Volodymyr Zelensky of Ukraine. During the call he asked the foreign leader to investigate Biden and his son Hunter.
Giuliani was recently in Ukraine to collect information. While in Ukraine, he met with Andriy Derkach, a Ukrainian lawmaker who wants to form a bilateral investigation between the two countries to look into corruption in Ukraine. Derkach is also looking to build a corruption case against Hunter Biden.
Giuliani is under federal investigation by prosecutors in New York and is being investigated along with two of his recently indicted associates over his consulting business.
