White House Director of the Office of Management and Budget Mick Mulvaney addressed the sexual allegations against Roy Moore, saying the women are credible — but is unsure on who to believe.
“I believe they’re credible. I don’t know who to believe. Again, I’m with the Office of Management and Budget,” Mulvaney told NBC’s Andrea Mitchell on “Meet the Press” Sunday when asked about the nine women who have come out against the Republican candidate.
Mitchell asked him to clarify, to which Mulvaney said again: “I said, ‘I believe they’re credible. I don’t know who to believe.’”
“If they’re credible, then why wouldn’t you believe them?” she asked.
Mulvaney shot back: “I run the Office of Management and Budget in Washington D.C. You work for NBC News in Washington D.C. My guess is we’ve not spent that much time looking at the specifics of these allegations. You’ve arrived at a certain conclusion because of a certain political persuasion.”
Mitchell pushed Mulvaney on if he believes the women are credible, and noted she “has no political ax to grind.”
“I believe the folks who vote in the Alabama election are going to ultimately decide that, and that’s the right folks to make those decisions,” Mulvaney said.
