Nine people were injured in a hail of bullets after multiple gunmen opened fire outside a Philadelphia bar on Saturday night, according to police.
The victims were hospitalized, including two in “extremely critical” condition, Deputy Commissioner John Stanford told the media in a briefing, shown in a video taken by Action News on 6ABC. He also said all the victims were adults, with at least one likely to have been known by the unidentified gunmen. The area where the shooting occurred is known to be a hot spot for gun violence. A motive is still being established.
PHILADELPHIA PROSECUTOR SHOULD BE REMOVED FROM OFFICE
“At this point in time, it just looks like these individuals may have spotted someone they wanted to shoot at, exited the vehicle, and began firing at the group of individuals that were there. We don’t have much more than that in terms of motive,” Stanford said.
“We have some brazen people in this city that don’t care. They don’t care how many police officers are out here. And some of them don’t care how many people are out here. We continue to do what we need to do to get these individuals in custody,” he added, stressing that the culprits will be brought to justice.
The shooting happened at around 10:45 p.m.
