President DeSantis? Twitter buzzes as governor speaks behind presidential seal

Social media users are speculating a future presidential run for Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis after he was pictured speaking behind the presidential seal during President Joe Biden’s visit to Florida.

Biden flew to the state Wednesday to survey some of the catastrophic damage from Hurricane Ian last week. In preparation for joint remarks with the governor, his team placed a presidential seal on the podium.

The image of DeSantis behind the seal quickly became fodder for fans of the politician.

“Great work there team Biden,” added Washington Examiner contributor Stephen L. Miller.

Conservative podcast host Erick Erickson wrote, “The Biden Advance Team letting DeSantis speak from behind the presidential seal is something to behold.”

“Man, DeSantis behind the presidential seal looks just about perfect,” said editor Curtis Houck.

DeSantis recently beat former President Donald Trump in a hypothetical 2024 primary battle among Florida Republicans. The poll showed the governor at 48% to Trump’s 40%.

Only months prior, a poll showed their positions flipped, with Trump leading DeSantis by 7 points.

“This doesn’t necessarily mean DeSantis would lead in any other GOP primary state,” David Paleologos, the director of the Suffolk University Political Research Center, said of the new data. “But it is one data point suggesting a shift in preferences from GOP voters away from Trump and toward DeSantis from Republicans who know both potential combatants quite well.”
