GOP senator Ben Sasse says Qassem Soleimani was ‘evil bastard who murdered Americans’

Sen. Ben Sasse said Qassem Soleimani got what he deserved when he was killed in an airstrike in Iraq on Thursday.

“This is very simple: General Soleimani is dead because he was an evil bastard who murdered Americans,” the Nebraska Republican said in a statement.

The Pentagon announced late Thursday it carried out the airstrike at the direction of President Trump.

“The President made the brave and right call, and Americans should be proud of our servicemembers who got the job done. Tehran is on edge — the mullahs have already slaughtered at least a thousand innocent Iranians — and before they lash out further they should know that the U.S. military can bring any and all of these IRGC butchers to their knees,” Sasse’s statement continued.

The Iranian general directed Tehran’s proxy terrorist forces and was referred to as the country’s “shadow commander” as he led the Quds Force, a branch of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps responsible for conducting special operations outside Iranian territory. His activities in the Middle East caused the deaths of hundreds of U.S. service members.

Soleimani, 62, was killed near Baghdad International Airport along with Abu Mahdi al Muhandis, head of the Iranian-backed Popular Mobilization Forces.
