‘We will prevail’: Trump campaign releases ad with Democrats praising handling of coronavirus pandemic

The Trump reelection campaign shared an ad with prominent Democrats and media personalities praising the president’s handling of the coronavirus pandemic.

President Trump shared the video to his YouTube account on Friday, titling the video “Hope.”

“In times of struggle, we see the true greatness of the American character. Americans from all walks of life are rallying together to defeat the unseen enemy,” the ad begins with remarks from Trump.

The video then parses moments of praise from members of the administration, including White House coronavirus task force official Anthony Fauci and Defense Secretary Mark Esper, as well as Democratic governors and media pundits.

“He said everything that I could’ve hoped for,” California Gov. Gavin Newsom says in the video. “I can tell you the actions he has taken. His team has been on it,” also says New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo.

The ad also shows CNN correspondent Dana Bash and MSNBC host Joe Scarborough seemingly praising Trump at different points during the coronavirus pandemic. “He is being the kind of leader that people need,” Bash is shown saying. “He did what a president is supposed to do,” Scarborough says.

More than 591,000 people have tested positive for the coronavirus globally. Of those, at least 26,900 have died from it, and more than 130,900 have recovered. The United States has seen at least 101,000 confirmed cases, with more than 1,500 deaths and 869 reported recoveries.
