Toddler drowns at Reston hotel

Police are investigating the drowning death of a 1-year-old girl in a Reston hotel bathtub.

Fairfax County police said officers responded to the Westin Hotel located at 11750 Sunrise Valley Drive at about 8:15 p.m. Sunday for a report of a drowning. Officers found the body of Wreef Wafy Almutiri inside a hotel room.

Her parents were at the hotel when responders arrived, police said. Officer Bud Walker, a Fairfax County police spokesman, said it is “too soon to say” whether authorities consider the death suspicious.

No charges have been placed and the child had not suffered any other apparent trauma, Walker said.
