Twitter’s Jack Dorsey seemingly mocks Parler after the social networking service is banned from app stores

Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey seemingly mocked Parler after the social networking service was removed from Apple’s app store.

Dorsey tweeted a screenshot of messaging service Signal occupying the top spot in a list of “free apps” and captioned the tweet with a heart emoji.

The tweet was apparently in response to other users boasting about Parler hitting the No. 1 spot in the same category after Twitter and Facebook banned President Trump from their platforms.

Parler, a social networking site that claims to uphold the value of free speech, emerged as competition to Twitter and Facebook after the Trump ban. But the surge in new users didn’t last long thanks to other tech giants, with Apple and Google banning the Parler app from their stores while Amazon booted the company from its servers.

All three companies cited the presence of violent content as the reason for banning Parler, with Apple claiming in a statement that the company still supports “diverse points of view” in their store.

“We have always supported diverse points of view being represented on the App Store, but there is no place on our platform for threats of violence and illegal activity,” an Apple representative said in the statement. “Parler has not taken adequate measures to address the proliferation of these threats to people’s safety. We have suspended Parler from the App Store until they resolve these issues.”

Parler disappeared from the top apps list shortly after the ban, eventually being replaced by Signal in the top spot.

Some users reacted in disgust to Dorsey’s apparent boasting about the banishment of his competition, with political commentator and talk show host Dave Rubin calling Dorsey a “pathetic weasel” for the post.

“Holy s— this is an evil tweet,” commented journalist Tim Pool.

Twitter did not immediately respond to a Washington Examiner request for comment.
