Trump: Polls showing low approval rating are ‘rigged’

President-elect Trump on Tuesday called a poll showing he has one of the lowest approval ratings for a recent incoming president “rigged.”

“The same people who did the phony election polls, and were so wrong, are now doing approval rating polls. They are rigged just like before,” Trump said.

CNN released a poll Tuesday morning showing Trump with a 40 percent approval rating. That approval rating is less than half of President Obama’s 84 percent approval rating when he took office in 2009 and more than 20 points below both President George W. Bush and President Bill Clinton when they took office.

Trump trails Obama in current approval ratings by a significant margin as well. Obama is leaving office with a 58 percent approval rating, his highest approval rating since November 2009, according to a recent Gallup poll.

Trump also tweeted that people are coming into Washington for his inauguration on Friday, and promised a big celebration.

“People are pouring into Washington in record numbers. Bikers for Trump are on their way. It will be a great Thursday, Friday and Saturday!” he said.
