German Report on Illegal Arms Exports to Iran

From BBC Worldwide Monitoring:

Iran is massively rearming its nuclear, biological and chemical weapons arsenal. This is the result of the first situation report by the Federal Office of Criminal Investigations and the Customs Office of Criminal Investigations (BKA, ZKA) about illegal arms transfers by German companies. “Indications are mounting that point to a secret military nuclear programme” by the mullah regime in Tehran, the confidential report says. Against this background, customs investigators are investigating six German companies, which illegally conducted 20 deliveries via Russia for the construction of the Iranian unclear power plant in Bushehr. According to the BKA and the ZKA, Iranian universities have the “know-how” for “biological combat agent programmes”. Cover companies of the Iranian intelligence services are trying to get “microbiological and biotechnological laboratory and production equipment”. Apparently, the Islamic theocracy is also storing the chemical combat agents mustard gas, tabun, Prussic acid, sarin and VX. In 2004 Customs initiated 16 criminal proceedings for illegal deliveries to crisis countries. The federal prosecutor general’s office is investigating foreign agents in 19 cases in connection with illegal arms exports. Source: Focus, Munich, in German 31 Jan 06
