Trump tries to clean up his ‘nasty’ Meghan Markle comment

President Trump attempted to explain away his description of Meghan Markle, the Duchess of Sussex, as “nasty,” which caused waves on the eve of during his state visit to the United Kingdom.

Trump told Piers Morgan in “Good Morning Britain” that he meant Meghan was being “nasty about” him, not that she was “nasty” herself. “She was nasty to me. And that’s okay for her to be nasty, it’s not good for me to be nasty to her and I wasn’t,” he said.

Trump made the comment in an Oval Office interview with the Sun before leaving for the U.K. Markle had said she was not going to meet the president during his state visit because she was on maternity leave.

She had threatened to move to Canada if Trump won the election in 2016.

“A lot of people are moving here. So, what can I say?” Trump said. “No, I did not know she was nasty.” He added how he hoped she was doing okay and said she will do well in her role as the Duchess of Sussex.
