She may lack her county-issued cell phone, car and parking permit for at the County Administration building, but Prince George’s County Councilwoman Leslie Johnson was back to work in Upper Marlboro Monday morning with her fellow council members.
Johnson appeared at a council meeting, voting with the rest of the council for and against detailed site plans for county businesses.
Sitting at the dais, Johnson remained silent, only speaking up to vote when called on by the council clerk.
Johnson pleaded guilty June 30 to charges of conspiring to commit federal witness and evidence tampering, admitting to stuffing $79,600 in cash in her bra and underwear and flushing a $100,000 check down the toilet at the instruction of her husband, then-County Executive Jack Johnson.
While she plans to resign on July 31, her eight colleagues on the council have urged Johnson to resign immediately and took actions to limit her ability to work in District Six, which covers the Mitchellville area.
At the instruction of the council, Johnson turned over her county-issued property – including her laptop, cell phone, and vehicle – to council administrator Robert Williams on Friday.
