Carson ‘Certainly Leaning’ Toward Endorsing Trump

Former presidential candidate Ben Carson said Thursday that he’s moving in the direction of endorsing Donald Trump for president, calling the New York businessman “a thinking individual”.

“Let’s put it this way: I’m certainly leaning,” the retired neurosurgeon told FOX News Radio after host John Gibson said it sounded like Carson was “on the Trump team.”

Addressing an op-ed he wrote for the Washington Post about how Trump could affect down-ticket Republicans in the general election, Carson said there’s “the potential for major upside.”

“He captures the anger of the populace, and I think’s what the Republican party doesn’t understand. They don’t understand why he has appeal to people. When they can understand that, they will be much more in touch with the populace.”

For a time, Trump was cordial with Carson during the campaign. But when Carson charged toward the top of the polls in late October, both nationally and in Iowa, Trump unloaded on him.

This CNN headline from Nov. 12 should suffice: “Trump likens Carson’s ‘pathology’ to that of a child molester.”
