U.Va. offers class on its own recent history

The University of Virginia will begin offering a course that dissects the ousting of President Teresa Sullivan in June and the turmoil on campus that eventually led to her reinstatement.

The oral history class will begin this fall and cover the campus protest and news coverage of the state’s flagship university between June 10 and June 26, the Associated Press reports.

Students will be asked to channel Thomas Jefferson, the school’s founder, as they interview faculty, staff and others involved in the saga and debate challenges now facing institutions of higher learning.

The AP also reported that the University Library has archived 80,000 tweets, 260 news articles, 120 blog posts and 56 videos from the time to help preserve the event for historians.
