A sealed warrant has been placed in Superior Court in connection with the arrest of a volunteer football coach accused of having sex with a 15-year-old girl, and arranging for her to have sex for money, government sources said.
Law enforcement officials won’t reveal what’s contained in the document. Police sources told The Examiner the warrant was used to search the home of a law enforcement official.
D.C. police arrested Bowie High School volunteer junior varsity coach Arron Jahimal Burroughs earlier this week, after a teenager told them Burroughs allegedly had sex with her, and arranged for her to have sex for money with other men, according to the arresting document.
Burroughs, 35, of Crofton, Md., admitted to police that he sold marijuana and had two pounds in his Range Rover, according to the arresting document. He also admitted that he had been having sex with the girl since she was 14, police said.
Burroughs was charged with first-degree child sex abuse. He was being held in jail, waiting for a hearing this morning.
Burroughs had been an unpaid coach for the junior varsity Bulldogs for three years, Prince George’s County Public Schools spokesman John White said. Burroughs has since been banned from coaching in the school district.
Police have not identified the girl to school officials, so there’s no way to know if she was a Prince George’s County public school student, White said.
Before football practices next month, the principal will send letters to the players’ parents notifying them that Burroughs will no longer be with the team, White said.
The girl told police she was a prostitute and Burroughs was her “pimp” after Takoma Park police found her engaged in oral sex with a man in a car, police said. The man in the vehicle who was caught with the girl has not been charged and is still under investigation.
