Alexandria police are asking Alexandria Chamber of Commerce members for help identifying a King Street wallet thief.
The suspect is wanted for a string of larcenies at boutique businesses along the ritzy King Street corridor. The man stops in Old Town shops, politely asks employees to retrieve an item and then steals wallets or money from the back room or front counter, according to a notice from the Chamber of Commerce.
Police described the suspect as a black male, approximately 30 years old, about 6 feet tall, about 180 pounds, with short hair. The police notice said the suspect had used credit cards from stolen wallets at various gas stations in Alexandria.
