AIPAC warns that group of attendees may have had contact with coronavirus patient

The American Israel Public Affairs Committee warned attendees after its annual conference that a group of participants may have been in contact with someone who is now quarantined with coronavirus.

The D.C. health department warned AIPAC officials after its conference ended that a group of attendees may have coronavirus and are under observation, the lobby group said in a statement on Wednesday. The group said that none of the conference attendees have tested positive for the disease, however, and that people should not be alarmed.

“We have been made aware that a group of Policy Conference attendees from New York was potentially contact prior to the conference with an individual who contracted coronavirus. That individual did not attend the Policy Conference. The group has been added to the self-quarantine list,” AIPAC said.

“To our knowledge, no one who attended the conference has tested positive for coronavirus at this time,” the group added.

The coronavirus first appeared in the Chinese city of Wuhan in December and has since infected roughly 92,000 people in more than 70 countries. At least 3,200 people have died from the disease worldwide, 11 of those in the United States.
