Former top aide to Chris Christie crosses party lines, hired as Cuomo’s chief of staff

A former senior adviser to New Jersey Republican Gov. Chris Christie has been hired to work as New York Democratic Gov. Andrew Cuomo’s new chief of staff.

Maria Comella, who worked in Christie’s gubernatorial office and on his 2012 presidential campaign, previously worked for Rudy Giuliani’s campaign for president 2008.

“The fact Gov. Cuomo is willing to listen to different viewpoints and work with people from the other side of the aisle is something we should welcome, and quite frankly, should want to see happen more often,” Comella told CNN.

After working on Christie’s unsuccessful campaign in 2012, Comella declined to support Trump.

Cuomo has been mentioned as a possible candidate for the Democratic nomination for president in 2020.
