A man was hit by a Blue Line train at Metro Center Wednesday afternoon, the latest suicide attempt on the transit system.
The man was hit at 12:49 p.m. on the tracks by a train headed to Largo Town Center, said Metro spokesman Dan Stessel. Witnesses told Metro that he intentionally jumped from the platform, he said.
Emergency personnel were still on the scene as of 1:15 p.m. and the man appeared to be alive, Stessel said.
Crews were trying to extricate the man, who was pinned underneath the train, said D.C. Fire and EMS spokesman Pete Piringer.
Trains were forced to share a single track between McPherson Square and Federal Triangle.
