New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio thinks Democratic presidential front-runner Hillary Clinton will have a very successful primary day Tuesday.
“All I’m gonna say is, a solid margin. I don’t think it’s gonna be close,” de Blasio said Monday morning on CNN’s “New Day” as his state’s voting contest kicks off.
De Blasio, who endorsed Clinton last fall, was on a slew of television and radio shows Tuesday morning showing his support for the former New York senator.
“We’ve learned this season not to listen too much to pollsters. There’s been some real surprising results, but the consistency of these polls has been striking,” de Blasio said. “And the response we’re getting on the ground for Hillary has been overwhelming.”
The mayor said that if people haven’t decided yet, they should look at Clinton’s platform, which he called “one of the most progressive” platforms in the last 50 years.
A RealClearPolitics average of polls shows Clinton ahead of rival Sen. Bernie Sanders by nearly 12 percentage points in New York. Sanders has won eight of the last nine voting contests, but Clinton leads in the delegate count and general population vote.
