President Trump lashed out at “no-talent guy” Stephen Colbert who talks “filthy,” referring to the “Late Show” host’s recent monologue.
“You see a no-talent guy like Colbert. There’s nothing funny about what he says,” Trump said in an interview with Time. “And what he says is filthy. And you have kids watching. And it only builds up my base. It only helps me, people like him.”
“The guy was dying. By the way, they were going to take him off television, then he started attacking me and he started doing better. But his show was dying,” he said, referring to the ratings bump Colbert’s show got after Trump became president. “I’ve done his show. … But when I did his show, which by the way was very highly rated. It was high — highest rating. The highest rating he’s ever had.”
Colbert made a vicious attack on Trump in a monologue riddled with crude jokes about Trump’s interview with CBS’ John Dickerson. Colbert joked, “Mr. President, I love your presidency. I call it ‘Disgrace the Nation,'” in reference to Trump calling Dickerson’s show “Deface the Nation.” He also said the president is “turning into a real prick-tator” and that Trump’s “mouth is good for is being Vladimir Putin’s cock holster.”
The FCC says it is looking into the complaints about the monologue.
Colbert’s audience on Tuesday cheered loudly when he informed them that Trump had just fired FBI Director James Comey “less than 10 minutes ago.” “He fired the director who has said, under oath, that he’s investigating the Trump campaign’s ties with Russia. No rationale has been given yet as to why, but it came on the recommendation of Attorney General Jeff Sessions,” he said as the audience booed.
Trump also criticized CNN anchors Don Lemon and Chris Cuomo, according to Time. He said Cuomo looks like a “chained lunatic. … a boiler ready to explode,” while Lemon is “perhaps the dumbest person in broadcasting.”
