Romney cannot ‘conceive’ of running for national office and predicts Trump reelection

Republican Utah Sen. Mitt Romney all but ruled out challenging President Trump in the upcoming presidential election and predicted the president will secure a second term.

“There is no circumstance I can conceive of, where I would run for national office,” Romney said during a roundtable discussion about anti-vaping efforts, before adding that Trump will not only be the nominee, but will likely also win.

“I’ve tried that twice. Twice is enough,” he went on, Kathryn Watson of CBS News reported.

Trump and Romney have exchanged hostile words after Romney condemned him for encouraging Ukraine to investigate former Vice President Joe Biden. Trump fired back at Romney, calling him “pompous” and demanding his impeachment.

“Oh, don’t repeat them!” Romney said regarding the tweets. “First of all, I don’t follow the president on Twitter so I don’t see all of his tweets. But secondly, in my business if you got concerned about criticism, you’d be in the wrong business.”
