WORCESTER, Mass. (AP) — For the second straight year, a student robotics team from Worcester Polytechnic Institute has a won a robotics competition sponsored by NASA.
The tournament is called the RASC-AL Exploration Robo-Ops Competition. It was held May 30 through June 1 at NASA’s Johnson Space Center in Houston.
The WPI team beat seven other university teams, each of which designed a planetary rover to perform specific tasks.
The Telegram & Gazette reported (http://bit.ly/KSPhSQ) that half the WPI team worked on the robot in Houston and half operated it from Worcester.
The victory earned the team $5,000 and a trip to Desert RATS, a NASA testing event in Arizona.
