Russian President Vladimir Putin joked to NBC News’ Megyn Kelly on Friday that even her “underage daughter” could have hidden the origin of the hack that messed with the U.S presidential election.
Kelly asked Putin about the evidence the U.S intelligence community says it has suggesting the Russian president was personally involved in hacks and subsequent leaks that undermined Hillary Clinton’s presidential campaign.
“IP addresses can be invented — a child can do that! Your underage daughter could do that. That is not proof,” Putin said about Kelly’s daughter after he denied any involvement in the hacking.
Putin made the comment to Kelly during a panel discussion at the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum on Friday.
