Michael Avenatti says Michael Cohen ‘no hero’ and deserves full sentence

Michael Avenatti says Michael Cohen deserves to serve in jail every day of his three-year prison sentence.

The attorney for adult entertainer Stormy Daniels in her case against President Trump said Wednesday that the former fixer for Trump’s agreeing to a plea deal with special counsel Robert Mueller was no heroic act.

“Michael Cohen is no hero, he is no patriot,” Avenatti told the press after the sentencing Wednesday. “This is an outrage. He deserves every day of the 36-month sentence.”

“His choice time and time again was to degrade my client, seek to intimidate her, call her and me liars, and seek to degrade the office of the presidency of the United States by seeking to buy — effectively — an election,” Avenatti said.

Cohen made the $130,000 payment to Daniels in October 2016 so she would not discuss her years-old extramarital affair with then-candidate Trump.

The federal government classified this payment as an illegal donation to Trump’s campaign, considering the payout was made with the intention to improve his odds in the 2016 election. The legal limit for individual contributions in the general election is $2,700.

Avenatti also noted irony in the fact that Cohen will report to prison March 6, exactly a year to the day after he filed a case against Trump on behalf of his client, whose real name is Stephanie Clifford.
