Santa Monica law enforcement officials arrested a man armed with weapons and explosive material who said he was in California for the Los Angeles Pride Festival.
“They found him with weapons that were very disconcerting,” a source told the Los Angeles Times.
Those weapons included guns and ammunition, “as well as tannerite, an ingredient that could be used to create a pipe bomb,” according to the report.
The arrest took place within hours of a mass shooting at a gay bar in Orlando, Fla., that was carried out by a U.S. citizen born to Afghan parents. The FBI is investigating that assault as a terrorist attack. The Orlando shooter reportedly pledged allegiance to ISIS before carrying out the attack.
Authorities believe there is no connection between the Orlando shooting and the L.A. arrest, according to the Times report.
