Joe Biden has come out with his first nickname for President Trump, and people took to Twitter to poke fun at the moniker.
The presumptive Democratic nominee for president had been “really resisting” giving Trump a nickname despite the president repeatedly calling him “Sleepy Joe.”
That all changed Monday with a new name: “President Tweety.”
“Trump is out there tweeting again this morning. I call him ‘President Tweety!'” Biden said in a video message posted online Monday.
People flocked to Twitter to react to the new moniker, saying everything from “no one seems very good at” giving nicknames besides Trump to “sound about right for 2020.”
People not named Trump should really stop playing the nickname game. No one seems very good at it and it’s embarrassing. https://t.co/PLXehqlHeI

President tweety? Really? That’s the best you could come up with? They’ve got Sleepy Joe, which is funny and accurate and the best you’ve got is so boring it won’t even entertain a toddler https://t.co/PugXce625K

“Sleepy Joe” v. “President Tweety” sounds about right for 2020. https://t.co/ye2FOt99tC

Donald Trump Jr. slammed the name and referenced Biden’s use of the phrase “lying, dog-faced pony soldier” when he addressed a voter earlier this year.
“President Tweety” is exactly the type of high quality nickname that you would expect to come from someone who uses the phrase “lying dog-faced pony soldier” like it’s a normal thing to say.
So cringeworthy! ???

Not a promising sign. The Republican campaign accuses Biden of corruption, socialism, dementia, and much more (see Eric Trump for details). Democrats–with the nation devastated following a failed pandemic response by POTUS–fire back with “tweety.”

Trump has built a cache of nicknames and epithets for political opponents and pundits since he hit the campaign trail in 2015. Some of his most used include “Crooked Hillary” Clinton, “Crazy Bernie” Sanders, “Little” Michael Bloomberg, “Slimeball” James Comey, “Psycho” Joe Scarborough, and “Pocahontas” Elizabeth Warren.
Biden knows that Tweety always wins, right?
Sylvester comes up with complex traps and plans to get Tweety, and they always fail.
So.. good one? https://t.co/Teb4kQPzp8

Some showed support for the nickname, such as actress Debra Messing, who has a history of slamming Trump for his policies and his response to the coronavirus.
Love it!!!! #PresidentTweety https://t.co/imuUHln9BC
