Rep. Dan Crenshaw, R-Texas, added his voice to a bipartisan chorus criticizing President Trump for his recent attacks on Sen. John McCain, who died last year.
“Mr. President, seriously stop talking about Senator McCain,” Crenshaw tweeted Thursday.

Crenshaw, a former Navy SEAL who was wounded in Afghanistan, joined Democrats and other Republicans who denounced Trump’s repeated attacks against McCain, who died last year due to brain cancer. McCain was captured and tortured in Vietnam while serving in the Navy, a fact that Trump mocked in the past. Crenshaw joined fellow Texas Republican Rep. Roy Chip who condemned Trump’s comments Wednesday.
Another Republican to take a swipe at the president was Sen. Johnny Isakson, R-Ga., who said Trump’s comments about McCain drove him crazy.
“When the president is saying that that he doesn’t respect John McCain and he’s never going to respect John McCain and all these kids are out there listening to the president of the United States talk that way about the most decorated senator in history who is dead it just sets the worst tone possible,” Isakson said.
Former California Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger called Trump’s attacks “absolutely unacceptable.” Sen. Mitt Romney, R-Utah, said that he “can’t understand” why Trump would continue to attack McCain months after his death.
