Al Roker disses Democrats in first night of the debate: ‘Who cares?’

NBC’s “Today” show co-host Al Roker dismissed the 2020 presidential candidates who will participate in the first night of the two-day presidential debate Wednesday morning.

The first night of the debate, which is scheduled for next Wednesday, will be headlined by Massachusetts Sen. Elizabeth Warren and former Texas Rep. Beto O’Rourke. The second night features former Vice President Joe Biden and independent Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders.

Roker said the second night is “the main event,” before adding, “Well you look at the first group, who cares?”

The second night of the debate includes four of the five candidates who are polling the highest, according to Morning Consult’s latest poll from June 10-16. Biden and Sanders lead the pack, with Warren at third being the only top five candidate participating in the first night, followed by California Sen. Kamala Harris and South Bend, Ind., Mayor Pete Buttigieg.

O’Rourke and New Jersey Sen. Cory Booker are the only other candidates from the poll that reached more than 1%, and they’ll be together with Warren.
