The St. Louis couple who made headlines last year after being filmed pointing guns at Black Lives Matter protesters showed up at the Kenosha County courthouse Monday in support of Kyle Rittenhouse.
Mark and Patricia McCloskey told reporters that Rittenhouse was being subjected to a “political prosecution.”
“We’re here to support Kyle and the basic premise of self-defense and our God-given Second Amendment rights,” Mark McCloskey said. “And we’re hoping the jury acquits him on all counts.”
RITTENHOUSE DEFENSE ATTORNEY SAYS HE’S ‘GLAD’ HIS CLIENT SHOT ROSENBAUM
Rittenhouse, 18, is charged in the fatal shootings of Joseph Rosenbaum, 36, and Anthony Huber, 26, during a night of riots in the small Wisconsin town on Aug. 25, 2020. He also wounded Gaige Grosskreutz, 28, after blowing off his bicep.
The teenager from Antioch, Illinois, faces five criminal charges ranging from intentional homicide to recklessly endangering safety. He has pleaded not guilty. If convicted of the most serious charge, he could spend the rest of his life behind bars.
“We think the evidence is strong that he acted in self-defense,” Mark McCloskey said.
The couple pleaded guilty to misdemeanors earlier this year. They were also fined and forced to give up the guns they waved at protesters but were pardoned in September by Missouri Gov. Mike Parson.
Mark McCloskey said his life was “never the same” following the incident.
The personal injury attorney, who is running for a U.S. Senate seat in Missouri, posed for pictures with a man carrying a sign outside the courthouse that read “self defense is not a crime.”

The couple said they would remain in Kenosha until the jury renders a verdict.
