Getting from Baltimore to Gaithersburg is as easy as driving on the new InterCounty Connector, according to Google Maps.
However, there’s one small detail missing. The road isn’t open yet.
That’s the problem the Baltimore Sun found when it went searching for directions on Google and Yahoo and found that each website was directing traffic onto parts of the ICC, also known as Md. 200, that haven’t been built yet.
Maryland transportation officials opened up the first 5.6-mile stretch of the highway between Georgia Avenue and Interstate 370 last month. Officials with the Maryland Transportation Authority told the Sun they would work with geographic data providers to fix the issue.
