Democratic presidential contender Bernie Sanders showed off a sword that Ross Perot gave him, in a tweet commemorating the businessman’s legacy.
Perot, who died Tuesday at 89, was a billionaire businessman and third-party presidential candidate. He reportedly gifted the Excalibur-like sword to the Vermont senator for his work on a veterans bill.
“Ross Perot was a champion for veterans’ rights and ahead of his time on disastrous trade policies. During his campaign, he explained, in depth, how he would address our national problems and spurred serious discussion. Ross Perot was a one-of-a kind American. He will be missed,” Sanders wrote.

In an 2015 interview with the New York Times, Sanders joked about the sword hanging on his office wall, which came with a plaque that features a quote from Sir Winston Churchill, “Never give in, never give in, never, never, never!”
“That is from Ross Perot,” Mr. Sanders said. “He said: ‘When media gives you a problem, take it out! Threaten them!’”
Perot is known for his presidential campaigns in 1992 and 1996. Perot received 19% of the popular vote in his 1992 race against President George H.W. Bush and Arkansas Gov. Bill Clinton.
Sanders, 77, is trailing Joe Biden in a dead heat for second with Sens. Kamala Harris of California and Elizabeth Warren of Massachusetts, registering 14.9% support according to a RealClearPolitics national average of polls.
