House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi slammed President Trump’s persistence to get a border wall built, saying that Trump is weak to consider it.
“The president talking about this wall is a sign of weakness” Pelosi said Sunday on “Meet the Press.” “He is saying ‘I can’t control our borders, I have to build a wall.'”
Pelosi added that the U.S. has a responsibility to “control our borders, building a wall is not the answer.”
Pelosi’s comments come ahead of a showdown among Democrats and Republicans over funding for a border wall.

Trump’s director of Homeland Security said this weekend on CNN that he believes the president would be insistent on getting funding for the wall in the spending bill.
But Pelosi countered that wall funding is a non-starter.
“The Democrats do not support the wall and I think the Republicans on the border states do not support the wall,” she said.
She also directed blame on a potential government shutdown squarely on the GOP.
“The Republicans have the votes in the House and the Senate and the white house to keep government open,” she said. “The burden to keep the government open is on the Republicans.”
