Chris Christie released from hospital after coronavirus diagnosis

Former New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie has been released from the hospital after a week of treatment for COVID-19.

Christie made the announcement himself on Saturday morning. He was checked into New Jersey’s Morristown Medical Center on Oct. 3.

“I am happy to let you know that this morning I was released from Morristown Medical Center. I want to thank the extraordinary doctors & nurses who cared for me for the last week. Thanks to my family & friends for their prayers. I will have more to say about all of this next week,” he tweeted.

Christie was one of a number of people within President Trump’s orbit who have tested positive for COVID-19. Some include first lady Melania Trump, senior aide Hope Hicks, White House press secretary Kayleigh McEnany, former White House adviser Kellyanne Conway, and Republican National Committee Chairwoman Ronna McDaniel.

Trump returned to the White House from Walter Reed National Military Medical Center on Monday. He was at the hospital since the previous Friday being treated for COVID-19 with several medications. Trump received an experimental polyclonal antibody cocktail, the antiviral drug remdesivir, vitamin D, zinc, famotidine, a daily aspirin, and melatonin. He has since touted the medicine and said he feels great.
