Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu thanked President-elect Trump for his “clear-cut support for Israel” after Trump ripped the Obama administration’s decision to abstain from an important United Nations vote last week.
“President-elect Trump, thank you for your warm friendship and your clear-cut support for Israel!” Netanyahu tweeted Wednesday morning.

Netanyahu also tagged two of Trump’s children, Ivanka and Donald Trump Jr., in the tweet. Donald Trump Jr. is not supposed to be involved in government business because he is set to take over the Trump Organization when his father becomes president, while Ivanka’s role has not been announced.
The U.N. Security Council on Thursday approved a resolution condemning Israeli settlements in East Jerusalem and the West Bank. The U.S. delegation abstained from the vote, allowing it to pass.
Trump and other Israel supporters in the United States met the abstention with derision and ripped Obama for not supporting Israel. Reports from Israel say that the U.S. delegation worked with Palestinian representatives to ensure the resolution would pass, which the administration denies.
Trump tweeted Wednesday morning that the U.S. can’t leave Israel on its own in the Middle East and promised stronger relations when he becomes president next month.
