Universal will be “evaluating” the future of attractions at the Seuss Landing section of its Islands of Adventure park in Orlando, Florida.
The theme park and resort complex responded to an inquiry that followed Dr. Seuss Enterprises’s announcement on Tuesday that it would stop publishing six titles because they have images that portray people in a manner deemed to be racially insensitive.
“Seuss Landing continues to be very popular with our guests and we value our relationship with Seuss Enterprises,” Universal said in a statement to the Washington Examiner when asked whether the park would be closing its Dr. Seuss section. “We’ve removed the books from our shelves as they have asked and we’ll be evaluating our in-park experience too. But our guests can plan on continuing to be able to enjoy their favorite experiences at Seuss Landing.”
Universal Orlando did not immediately respond to the Washington Examiner‘s follow-up request for clarification on whether there would be any closures.

One of the park’s rides is themed after If I Ran the Zoo, one of the books that have been pulled. The book has received criticism for its depiction of Asian people, but that imagery is not included in the play area, according to Spectrum News 13.
One of the park’s stores is called the Mulberry Street Store, themed after the now-pulled book And to Think That I Saw It on Mulberry Street.
