16-year-old charged in attempted Brooklyn rape

NEW YORK (AP) — Police have arrested a 16 year-old boy in the attempted rape of a Brooklyn woman.

They charged Jadeocus Muhammad on Tuesday with attempted rape, attempted assault involving injury with a weapon, burglary, harassment and a criminal sex act.

Police say the 30-year-old woman was attacked around 1 a.m. Saturday in the third-floor stairwell of her Crown Heights residence.

They say the attacker engaged the woman in conversation, then pushed her to the ground and attempted to rape her.

Police say the woman was able to resist the suspect and the attacker fled.

Information on Muhammad’s lawyer wasn’t immediately available.
