Green Line riders are the sole Metro travelers to be spared track work this coming weekend, according to the transit agency.
Metro plans to shut down service between three Blue Line stations, plus force trains to share a single track on other segments of the Blue, Orange and Red lines in this latest round of repair work. The Yellow Line will be affected, too, by the Blue Line repairs.
As usual, the work starts on Friday night and runs through Sunday.
Here’s what to expect:
Blue Line:
- No train service runs between Franconia-Springfield and Huntington, meaning Van Dorn also won’t have trains. Riders will need to take a free shuttle bus to get to and from the southernmost Blue Line stations, tacking on about 30 minutes to trips. Shuttles will also run to the Yellow Line’s Eisenhower Avenue stop.
- Trains will share a single track between Eastern Market and Stadium-Armory, meaning riders should count on 10 minute delays.
Yellow Line: The Blue Line shutdown means that Yellow Line trains will operate every 20 minutes between Huntington and Mt. Vernon Square throughout the weekend. Riders heading further north than Mt. Vernon will need to take the Green Line.
Orange Line: Trains will share a single track between Eastern Market and Stadium-Armory, meaning riders should count on 10 minute delays.
Red Line: Trains will take turns sharing a single track through both Takoma and Forest Glen and between Friendship Heights and Medical Center. Riders should plan for an extra 15 minutes on their travel times.
