McLEAN, Va. (AP) — Democrat John Foust and Republican Barbara Comstock say they have each raked in more than $1 million in the last three months in their campaigns to claim the congressional seat long held by Republican Frank Wolf, living up to predictions that the battle would be one of the most expensive House races in the country.
Official tallies are due later this month in reports to the Federal Election Commission, but on Friday the Foust campaign issued a press release saying it broke the $1 million mark in fundraising for the July-September quarter. Foust’s campaign spokesman, Shaun Daniels, said Friday that he believes it’s the first time candidates have ever raised $1 million in a single three-month period in Virginia’s 10th congressional district.
