Members of Metro’s board of directors on Thursday approved delaying consideration of fare increases and service reductions while the new general manager looks for ways to save money.

“This puts the brakes on the discussion of higher fares,” said D.C. Council Member Jim Graham, who chairs the board’s budget committee.
