NFL star Cam Newton was at the White House last week to help out with an interview with Michelle Obama as part of his new Nickelodeon series.
The Carolina Panthers quarterback and the NFL’s most valuable player was in the Rose Garden with 10-year-old Rosie Smolowitz, who interviewed the first lady for “All in with Cam Newton,” the Associated Press reported.
A White House spokeswoman told AP that the first lady talked to Smolowitz about, among other things, her “Every Kid in a Park” program, which is designed to give fourth-graders like Smolowitz free access to national parks and forests as well as other public lands.
The spokeswoman also told AP that Smolowitz and Obama discussed “the youngster’s dream of becoming become president, and about staying healthy and active.”
The show, premiering later this summer, will involve Newton helping children achieve some of their goals, such as interviewing the first lady of the United States. You can watch an extended trailer for it here.
This is at least the second time this month that Newton has been in Washington to rub elbows with the D.C. elite.
He was one of six NFL players to attend the White House Correspondents’ Dinner, with Seattle Seahawks cornerback Richard Sherman, Minnesota Vikings running back Adrian Peterson, Dallas Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo, Washington Redskins quarterback Kirk Cousins and Indianapolis Colts quarterback Andrew Luck.
