University of California, Berkeley is investigating an alleged assault of a conservative activist Tuesday seen in a video getting punched in the face.
The video, posted by Turning Point USA founder Charlie Kirk, shows a man wearing a black T-shirt approaching another person and grabbing at his cellphone, which looks as if its being used to film. After a brief confrontation, the activist looks down at this phone, presumably to resume recording, when the other individual cocks back his arm and hits the victim in the face before storming off, yelling obscenities.
“While recruiting for our @TPUSA group at UC Berkeley a leftist thug comes & assaults our activists punching him in the face & hitting him repeatedly,” Kirk tweeted with the video. “Imagine if the attacker was wearing MAGA hat, would be national news! This is the violent left!”

Berkeley police say they are investigating the incident, which was reported Tuesday afternoon at 3:29 p.m.
“UCPD Officers found an injured male on the Plaza who reported he had been assaulted,” university police said in a statement. “The victim reported he had been ‘tabling’ for the group Turning Point when two males approached the table. When a verbal altercation started, the victim began filming the interaction with his phone.”
“A physical confrontation ensued when one of the two men slapped the phone out of the victim’s hand. The suspect then knocked over the table the victim was at and the two men struggled over the phone. During the incident, the suspect punched the victim several times causing injury to the victim’s eye and nose,” the police added.
The suspect left the area before police arrived and has not been identified yet, but police are asking for the community’s help in locating him.
