One year after the District selected a developer for the high-profile redevelopment of the West End library and fire station, residents will see exactly what’s coming to their neighborhood at an ANC meeting scheduled for Monday night.
EastBanc’s design and plans are the culmination of months of meetings with community groups and other interested parties. The Georgetown-based developer, which is also developing the somewhat contentious Hine School project near Eastern Market, is proposing:
- 52 affordable housing units above a new fire station on M Street
- up to 180 units above a new library near 23rd and L streets.
According to the project website, EastBanc hopes to “break ground on the project in 2012 and complete construction in 2014.” Prior community presentations and renderings are also available on the website.
