White House press secretary says hate mail intensifying

The level of threatening, hateful, and sexist material directed at White House press secretary Stephanie Grisham has increased noticeably in recent weeks.

“Being the president’s spokesperson makes me a public figure, and that comes with a lot of attention — often negative,” Grisham exclusively told Breitbart News.

Grisham provided evidence to Breitbart News of the hateful messages that she receives on a regular basis.

One postcard addressed to “Stephanie C— Grisham” contained a message that simply said, “C—.” Another note sent to Grisham said, “You were remembered in prayer,” which clearly implied she would be killed at some point. “Praying that Satan takes you home soon,” another note ended with.

The Secret Service intercepted a package intended for Grisham that contained a teddy bear covered in what was supposed to appear like blood.

Grisham provided several more examples of vitriolic mail that she has received, along with screenshots.

Many in the national media have criticized Grisham for not holding White House press briefings, which have been a long-standing tradition in presidential politics.

“The briefings, which are meant to inform the public, were becoming a spectacle,” Grisham said back in November when pushed on the change.

“That’s always been a part of the job, especially for Republicans. But the media’s coverage of this president and his staff has escalated the negativity to unprecedented levels, as evidenced by my predecessor being the first press secretary to have a Secret Service detail,” Grisham told Breitbart News’s Matthew Boyle.

“The media say they are here to ‘hold the powerful accountable,’ which is a noble goal. But who holds the media accountable? They circle the wagons to protect each other, even though their ‘mistakes’ always go in one direction, but pile on the people who don’t share their views. There are consequences for this, especially for those of us who find ourselves in their crosshairs.”
